The Nugget coin series began in 1986 with four sizes with a different design on each size.  Each coin pictured a different gold nugget.  The designs changed each year until 1989 when various kangaroo varieties appeared to replace the nugget designs.  New to the series in 1989 was the 1/20 th ounce coin. The coins exist in uncirculated and proof issues.  We always stock the current year coins and some of the older series as they are purchased from some of our customers.

Another set of attractive gold bullion coins produced by the Perth Mint is The Australian Lunar Gold Series. Since its introduction in 1996 the coin reverses have carried an image of the lunar animal from that year. In 1996 it was the "Year of the Mouse"; 1997 brought the "Year of the Ox"; 1998 gave us the "Year of the Tiger"; and 1999 pictured the Rabbit. The year 2000 brought us the "Year of the Metal Dragon", a great blessing of success, happiness and prosperity for those born that year. The Snake appeared in 2001, the  Horse in 2002, and the Goat in 2003.
